New work – Premiere 2018
Liaisons is a choreographic work focused on the sense of seeing. The power of the gaze and how the way we see affects the way we understand the world. If your sight is blurred the way you perceive and read images will transform. In this piece Marie Topp explores the power of the blurred vision. The potential of a gaze that is not sharply focused – hence is not able to objectify.
The audience is sitting on the stage, they experience the dancers slowly moving bodies in close proximity. The choreography, the sound and the light work together to create a space where each spectator over time will oscillate between haptic and optic vision. In this blurred space these new representations and imaginations will take place
Liaisons is the first performance in a new series of works that are critically reflecting on how our different senses are affected by cultural and political structures.
The work is initiated by choreographer Marie Topp in close collaboration with Julia Giertz (sound), Mårten K Axelsson (light), Kenneth Bruun (dance), Olivia Riviere (dance) and Igor Dobricic (dramaturgy). The work is a continuation of a long-term collaboration between Topp, Giertz and Axelsson.
Liaisons is supported by: Dansehallerne, Bora Bora, MDT, Milvus Artistic Research Center, Reykjavik Dance Festival, Statens Kunstfond, Knud Højgaard Fonden.
